ECAD LONDON

Showcasing a style and technique of fine art photography at a level of great endeavour and integrity, artist David Winston merges intriguing and old-fashioned techniques with contemporary processes to produce painterly approached artworks.

Talking about his own practice, the artist says, 'The two major elements of magic and emotion are the driving forces behind my photography. The camera is a completely objective observer, simply recording everything the lens sees, rather than filtering it through our individual human perceptions.

This use of alternative and experimental  photo processes allow me to work with the more painterly aspects of photography - to portray what I see in a more subjective way, a captured moment, or a quality of light to create a photograph that tells a story and engages our imagination'.

In a world where images are so ubiquitous both online and in real life, it can be so easy to get in the habit of seeing everything on a surface level without ever taking time to really contemplate, or 'feel' what is being shown. However, the true art of photography comes in capturing a form of beauty that truly touches the soul. Something unique, unlike anything we might have seen before which stops us in our tracks, and forces us to linger and appreciate a little longer the art before us.

ECAD LONDON is about working in collaboration. With each artist bringing their unique element to a wider whole, similar to an orchestra of musicians playing different instruments in a symphony but also allowing for virtuoso solo performances.
