Morning tour 11am to 12.30am | Afternoon tour at 2.30 - 4pm
Discover the collaborative side of craftsmanship with Homo Faber. Begin with a tour of 'Today’s masters meet tomorrow’s talents', an exhibition showcasing the co-creations made by 20 artisan duos participating in Homo Faber Fellowship, presented by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship.
Inspired by an Art Deco theme, chosen by supporting partner of the programme Jaeger-LeCoultre, the 20 co-creations tell the stories of each duo’s creative journey, and showcase the possibilities which arise when a young vision meets with the experience of a master. The international fellows spent six months in the workshops of their paired master artisans across Europe, following a month-long creative and entrepreneurial masterclass developed and certified by ESSEC Business school and Passa Ao Futuro at Joana Vasconcelos Studio.
From here, weave your way to the V&A to see two live artisan demonstrations from Homo Faber Fellowship particpants. Master gold thread embroiderer José Luis Sánchez Expósito will reveal the secrets behind a craft so closely linked to the heritage of his home city of Seville. Young French featherworker Matéo Laurent will showcase the delicate craft of featherworking, he has been perfecting as a fellow to master artisan Julien Vermeulen. See firsthand the gestures and get a chance to talk to the artisans.
