THE TAGLI

Curated by Yates Norton, THE TAGLI is delighted to present the work of Piers Alsop and Grant Foster in the new duo show, Tell me everything you saw and what you think it means.

Navigating the real and the imaginary through layers of far-reaching influences, there is a special manner in which both Piers Alsop’s and Grant Foster’s creative practices provide delicate sites for connection. Ambiguity in their works places the viewer in the position of an investigator, an information seeker, or a creator of meaning, as they are invited to think curiously and tie-up the loose ends.

Across his work, Piers Alsop adopts symbolism to beautifully convey the nuances pertinent to human relationships with reality. His practice is rooted in presenting the interplay between the visible and the invisible, the known and the unknown, by playing on fragmented narratives that the viewer is invited to complete.

Grant Foster’s practice focuses on the potential of pluralistic connections. By taking inspiration from cultural references, historical traditions, and ephemeral material, he tactfully recreates sensory experience in the visual domain. Grant’s diverse influences inform the way in which his works speak to the contemporary moment, and provide a vision of where past, present and future moments intersect.

Piers Alsop’s and Grant Foster’s works prompt us to ask questions in the face of mystery and discover empathy in the human experience.
