Lottie Stoddart (b. 1989, Cambridge), lives and works in London. Stoddart’s interdisciplinary practice fuses multiple sources from literature, archaeology and childhood across painting, drawing, ceramics, textiles, film and creative writing. She plunders historical and personal episodes of creativity, vision, and belief that craft works which defy easy categorisation. Stoddart layers varied materials and techniques to create humorous juxtapositions, bringing clunky crudity into dialogue with refined sophistication, where hard meets soft and reduced economic forms coexist with intricate detail.
THE TAGLI (‘the cuts’) takes its name from the iconic slices of the canvas in the works of artist Lucio Fontana. He transcended painting, taking it beyond the two-dimensional picture plane to present an expression of hope and ‘expansion of spirit’, the vastness of the present and the future. We wish to create that same slash within the conventional art market. Our aim as a gallery is to provide space and opportunity to emerging artists whilst engaging and nourishing our clients with art that represents an extension of their personality and values.
