Christopher Brooks is a contemporary painter who lives and works in Oxfordshire. Brooks spent time living and working in New York and returned to the UK approximately 10 years ago. In 1983 he completed his BA in Fine Art, City and Guilds, London followed in 1994 by a MFA in Painting, School of Visual Arts, NYC.
Brooks wrote when considering this new series -"Somewhere between sleep and waking- strange light pulses like the stirring of a summer electrical storm. I started to consider what the light source was, being projected from within. My understanding of the mechanics of the eye was that it passively received light signals, and transmitted them to the brain. This seemed to be the reverse, with something internal generating the light, and projecting it into my eyes. Perhaps this was an illusion, that the light I was seeing was”seen” in the brain?"
This exhibition is a collaboration between Meakin + Parsons x Hannah Payne and Brooke Metcalfe.
