Ting-Ying Gallery

Ting-Ying and Katie Jones are delighted to present ‘Contemporary Chinese and Japanese Art’, coinciding with Asian Art Week in London.

This exhibition celebrates the connoisseurship of art and craft, showcasing exceptional contemporary objects in ceramic, metal, glass, lacquer and textiles. Over 70 museum-quality pieces will be displayed in the elegant rooms in Cromwell Place, designed in 1858 by Sir Charles James Freake. These inspiring artworks by both established and emerging artists stimulate new dialogues between East and West, tradition and innovation, function and aesthetics.

Ting-Ying Gallery

Ting-Ying Gallery was founded in 2017 by Peter Ting, a ceramic and product designer, and Ying Jian, who brings his wealth of knowledge and understanding of porcelain.

The gallery brings a dynamic and highly influential mission to the world of contemporary craft by stimulating ongoing dialogues between East and West, tradition and innovation, function and aesthetics. The gallery invites artists to grapple with the enigma of how they can question the perceptions of the past while evolving new work which manifests a strong sense of continuity with the inspiration of history. The resulting artworks celebrate the beauty and precision of craftsmanship today.

Ting-Ying Gallery is passionate about engaging a new audience with the exciting work that is emerging from the craft and design world. Through international art and design fairs, exhibitions and museum collaborations, the gallery presents collectors and institutions with a curated selection of new and challenging work that radiates intention, integrity and a redefinition of what is expected from craft and design.

Katie Jones Japan Gallery

With three decades of experience, and traveling annually to Japan to cultivate her passion, Katie Jones has a keen eye in spotting up-and-coming contemporary Japanese applied artists. In her distinguished career representing a continually evolving group of cutting edge Japanese artists, she represents the best of Japan's current generation in a wide range of media - including ceramic, metalwork, textile, bamboo, lacquer and glass that is not-to-be missed.

Arguably, no other society has so consistently valued and encouraged artistic endeavour as a central component of civilised living as Japan. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given cultural and physical distances, the breadth of Japan's artistic achievements through the 20th century remains unfamiliar in the west. Katie's work in bringing her artists to major European shows such as Collect, PAD and TEFAF is ensuring that this extraordinary art can be appreciated by all.
