Tiwani Contemporary

An exhibition by Congolese-Australian artist Pierre Mukeba – marking the first European and UK presentation of his work.

Transcend features vibrant and frenetic, large-scale charcoal and pastel compositions, and brings together two recent emotionally turbulent bodies of work: Mental Gymnastics, and Black Emotion, the latter series recently presented by Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery, New South Wales, Australia.

 

Pierre Mukeba (b.1995 Bakuvu, Democratic Republic of the Congo)
Currently lives and works in Adelaide, Australia.  Recent exhibitions include Black Emotion, Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery, Sydney (solo - 2021); NGV Triennial 2020, National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne (2020) Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art: Monster Theatres, Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide. (2020).

Since its establishment, the gallery continues to showcase new and established talent – mounting landmark and critically-acclaimed exhibitions in a series of firsts. Artists such as Njideka Akunyili-Crosby, Emeka Ogboh, Simone Leigh and Kapwani Kiwanga showed at Tiwani Contemporary in the early stages of their careers. 

In late 2021, the gallery celebrated its 10th anniversary.
