During the early 19th century, Japanese people were increasingly able to travel domestically for pleasure and also participate in more outdoor leisure activities such as attending festivals, taking boat trips and temple visits – all of which created a new demand for woodblock prints as souvenir images, giving rise to the landscape print as a popular genre, which continued into the 20th century.
Anatasia von Seibold Japanese Art presents a series of these works during May.
There will be a preview reception held on Tuesday, 17 May from 6-8pm. Please be in touch directly if you would like to attend.
