Leon Morrocco was born in Edinburgh in 1942, the first son of the artist Alberto Morrocco. He studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Slade School of Art in London and Edinburgh College of Art. He was lecturer in Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art from 1965 to 1968, and then at Glasgow School of Art from 1969 to 1979. His work can be found in many notable public and private collections, including the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, H.R.H Princess Margaret, Leeds Art Gallery, The Nuffield Foundation, and Queensland Art Gallery.

I was completely overwhelmed by the magnificence of the rugged terrain of the Alpes-Maritimes with its escarpments, gorges, and mountain towns…here was the subject-matter that called for robust interpretation and above all, a sense of monumentality.

The gallery has participated in numerous art fairs in Europe and the US and has collaborated on exhibitions with public institutions including Leeds City Art Gallery, Penlee House, Middlesbrough Art Gallery, Fruitmarket Gallery and the V&A. The gallery uses Cromwell Place to present new artists, large-scale exhibitions and use the Member spaces for meetings and administration.
